The journey...

started in the late 90s ago with a Master in Applied Mathematics, a PhD in Theoretical Physics, a Post-doc in Solid State Physics and a self-avoiding random walk into financial markets.

The passion for research never subsided. Wherever I have gone, my curiosity has followed me.

Professionally, I have worked for Investment Banks, Independent Commodity Trading houses and wholesale traders. Over the years, my roles in the industry have changed from quantitative analysis, deal structuring to business leadership and trading but my passion and curiosity have remained the constants.

I'm a seeker of knowledge, a deep thinker, and a lover of new things and that shows.

Aside from my industry roles, since 2010 I have kept a visiting professorship in mathematical Finance which keeps me synchronised with cutting edge research, young talent and it satisfies my drive to help progress others.

In 2016 Crystalet Research was founded to fulfil this vision.

Crystalet Research’s approach

  • Research it.

It all begins with an idea and passion. Having the mathematical tools to translate those into concepts that can be used practically, is paramount.

For 30 years, the academic experience has been intertwined with solving practical problems as a practitioner who built a successful career in financial markets.

  • Develop your edge.

Quantitative research is meaningless without the skills to implement those models into computerised code. Only that way we can truly analyse the data and start drawing honest conclusions.

Without being able to stand on shoulders of giants and draw on our own personal experience, finding a competitive advantage is nearly impossible.

  • Monetise it.

Financial markets are filled with opportunities, every day, day in and day out.

Trading with an edge, a solid risk management approach and whilst being in sync with your own psychology allows individuals and companies to prosper.

With any of those facets missing, failure is inevitable.
